I have traveled to the coast multiple times in my life. In the past three years, however, I have come to find that plastic is thought of differently the closer you are to the open sea. Citizens in California for example, are trying as much as possible to minimize plastic intake from working its way into the water. So, they have created compostable "plastic-ware". That way, it is easier to break itself down, even if it did get into the water, it wouldn't harm any animal it may come across if that were to happen. As I have gone to these places, I have taken a few pictures just to show the world through this website that people are trying to make the plastic pollution non-existent. I also have pictures of a few animals in captivity from an aquarium I visited. In my opinion, I feel that the animals are safer in captivity, which is not how it should be at all. They need to be free in their own habitats and live how they were meant to. The plastic is putting them in such danger that they need to be confined in order to not be exposed to it, which again, I don't agree with. There are pictures I took of some sea animals in the wild as well. Just to show how much they matter. They are there simply for motivation and inspiration to make a change in someone's lifestyle, hopefully. The following photos are all pictures I took on my trip to Hawaii on the island of Oahu in July of 2019.
Above: Two green sea turtles on right next to the dock in front of the hotel I stayed at.
Above: This is a chunk of coral that would easily fit in the palm of my hand. This is only one piece, but the entire beach was littered with dead coral. This is a serious problem because it is most likely bleached and died off from not getting enough nutrition. However, it could be natural death of the coral, but it is alarming how quickly coral reefs are dying off. This entire beach being covered by coral remains is never a good sign.
Above: (Location: Halona Blowhole Lookout) This is a perfect example of how beautiful the ocean and everything around it needs to stay. We need to work as hard as possible to keep it looking like this for the remainder of the earth's life.
